This week-end in New Zealand, people salute the memory of Susi Newborn. This rings a lot of bells… What I loved in the early Greenpeace years was the feeling that anything could happen anytime, anywhere. During her short life under a Greenpeace flag and before being bombed by the French secret service, the Rainbow Warrior, while campaigning non-stop, got arrested seven times, probably a world record. On board, life was never dull, and Susi was part of that story from day one.

QUAND UN ROULEAU DE PAPIER TOILETTE ENTRE DANS L’HISTOIRE

Ce week-end en Nouvelle-Zélande, on salue la mémoire de Susi Newborn. Cela me rappelle beaucoup de souvenirs… Ce que j’adorais au début de Greenpeace, c’était le sentiment que tout pouvait arriver n’importe quand et n’importe où. Au cours de sa courte vie sous pavillon Greenpeace et avant d’être coulé par les services secrets français, le Rainbow Warrior, lors de ses campagnes non stop, a été arrêté à sept reprises, probablement un record mondial. À bord, la vie n’était jamais banale et Susi a fait partie de cette histoire dès le premier jour.

Ci-joint une photo reproduite du livre de Susi « A Bonfire in My Mouth ». On peut la voir assise dans une tente à côté de la star de cinéma française Brigitte Bardot, seul un rouleau de papier toilette les sépare. Quand je vous dis que tout était possible…
